Sophomore year is often a time of exploration and decision-making. You may be choosing a major, considering internships, or wondering how your interests connect to careers. This is a great year to start building experience and expanding your network.

Recommended for Sophomores

  • Explore Career Pathways – Learn about industries and careers, talk with alumni, attend industry panels and events.
  • Build Your Skills – Strengthen your résumé and LinkedIn profile, practice networking, learn about interviewing.
  • Gain Experience – Apply for summer internships, pursue undergraduate research and self-directed projects, seek leadership opportunities in student orgs, explore experiential learning programs.
  • Connect with Alumni – Attend networking events, conduct informational interviews, learn from Middlebury grads working in fields that interest you.
  • Consider Funding Opportunities – Explore grants and fellowships, learn about funded internships and research opportunities.

Sophomore year is about trying things and learning from experience. Every opportunity helps you build skills and confidence.
